Don't Forget Travel Insurance When Booking Cheap Last Minute Travel Deals!

When you think about the Caribbean, you think about white sandy beaches, balmy breezes and warm sun. And while that is certainly the norm, the weather is, unfortunately, not perfect there 100% of the time.

Hurricanes are a fact of life, and unless you are a thrill-seeking surfer, there is nothing like a hurricane to throw a damper on your Caribbean vacation.

Luckily, there is travel insurance that covers situations like this. For a small fee, you can purchase insurance that protects you from things inclement weather like hurricanes.

This type of weather protection is sometimes included in last minute travel package deals, and there are certain travel companies that include travel insurance in every single one of their packages.

Before you book a vacation, always ask about the type of travel insurance that comes with the package. If none is included, either purchase your own separately, or simply find another travel package that does include it.

One of the things that I really like about booking vacations with CheapCaribbean.com is that travel insurance is included with every single reservation. It makes things much easier knowing that I am always covered and don't have to waste time finding insurance on my own.

CheapCaribbean.com's travel insurance program is called "Free Your Mind" Insurance, and it really does just that. It includes:

  • Travel Guard Hurricane & Weather Insurance Coverage: allows you to relax knowing that you will receive a full, 100% refund for your vacation, or re-schedule for no penalty if a hurricane or other weather conditions interrupt, delay, or cause you to cancel your travel plans.
  • Exclusive CheapCaribbean.com Savings Card: lets you save 10% on everything you purchase while on vacation! All you have to do is save all of your receipts (taxis, souveniers, dinner-everything!) and submit them to to CheapCaribbean.com's rebate center and they will give you back 10% of your receipt total!

You Need A Passport To Take Advantage Of Most Cheap Last Minute Travel Deals

If you don't have a passport yet, you need to apply for one right now! Otherwise you will miss out on some of the most fabulous cheap last minute travel deals.

Passports Now Required For Mexico & Caribbean Travel

U.S citizens are now required to present a valid U.S. passport when traveling by air or sea between the United States and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.

Exception To The Passport Requirement:

The passport requirement does NOT apply to U.S. citizens traveling to or returning directly from a U.S. territory, because then you are not considered to have left the United States and do not need to present a passport.

So if you don't have a passport yet, you can still take advantage of a last minute travel package deal to any of the following U.S. territories: Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Passport Requirements For Cruises

Passports are required for all U.S. citizens to take a cruise aboard any foreign-flagged ship. So unless you are sailing on an American ship, you need a passport.

Some countries on your itinerary may also require a visa for entry. You can check to see if you need a visa by going to Passport Visas Express at www.PassportVisasExpress.com.

U.S. Citizens traveling aboard U.S.-flagged vessels in Hawaii and Alaska can board the ship without a passport, however, valid proof if identity is still required.

Flight itineraries to and from the ship that cross international borders or connect in foreign countries may still require a passport. So check with the airline when making your reservations!
